What I did on Monday

September 18, 2007

The Jack’s Fork River and the Little Pine Creek meet up here in front of our potential new home site.

Looking from the potential building site.

See the bird on the rock island in front of me?

I don’t know what kind he is.

It’s ok to be jealous Diane.  :)

While we were gone Amber and Angela watched the kids.  I am mortified to find out that the downstairs bathroom was a picture of disgustingness the whole time they were here.  Sorry ladies!!  The kids had a blast.  I’ll post pics of them later. :)

What a wonderful place, Katie! I grew up in AZ and I remember longing for rain and green. It seems I’ve moved to progressively wetter and greener climates…Now that I’m approaching 30, I live in a tropical climate. We have a banana tree in our back yard. And it rains several times a week. I love it! AZ is great, but I know you all will love MO too.

Katie, is this in Willow Springs? It’s gorgeous and a great price, but my dh does business in Springfield so it would be too far out for us.

Sep. 18, 2007 - Any fish in the creek?

Posted by rebbetzin

Wow a river/creekbed with actual water running in it! Amazing! It will be even better if the kids can go fishng for some dinner once and a while.
The beak on that bird is rather long, it may be a type of Cormorant, there are many species of that bird. They eat fish. But, I didn’t see one exactly like it in any of the pictures on the web. I am sure the local people know what it is called.

So glad to see you made it to MO safely. I have enjoyed all the pics and following along on your journey. My birdman says that is a Green Heron. He has wanted to see one for a very long time, we have them here in the summer but have never seen them. Blue Herons though, that’s a different story, we see them all the time. Birdman would like to know if he can save your picture and print it out to add to his bird notebook?

Katie, we will be praying for you all to make the right decision and for the Lord to lead your steps. It looks so peaceful!! I hope we can come and play in that stream with your “team” someday when we are in Springfield for a conference. =) I don’t mind dirty bathrooms as long as you hand me a rag and cleaner! *wink* ~Raiah

You will have to pay flood insurance on that lot! This may be something you want to consider. I know for us we have to pay $100 per every $1000 that we paid for the house… this is on top of our regular insurance. And our creek is 6 ft down from the end of our property.. it takes a lot to flood it!

Sep. 21, 2007 - Jack’s Fork

Katie, you may want to see how far the property is from the canoe rentals, etc. The public uses Jacks Fork as a float trip spot, and from personal experience that is NOT a crowd you want the kids around…lots of beer, etc…and VERY noisy. Now is off season for floating, but if you check with the locals they’ll tell you if you are in danger of having a problem with the floaters.
Take care!
